Overview

Currently, three forms of vitamin K are available in the market. Synthetic K1 (Konakion), synthetic MK-4 (menatetrenone), and natural vitamin K2(Menaquinone-7). Natural Vitamin K is carefully purified from a fermented soybean product called Natto.
Natto is a Japanese breakfast food that has been traditionally eaten for more than 1000 years. Japanese scientists have linked vitamin K2 to a reduction of cardiovascular diseases.

Human studies using natural vitamin K2 demonstrated that natural vitamin K2 is significantly better than synthetic vitamin K1 in various aspects, including better absorption(1.5 times) , higher bioavailability (36 times) and competitive efficacy levels.

Natural Vitamin K2 is highly bioavailable, highly bioactive and exhibits the longest serum half life. Half life of natural Vitamin K2 is 3 days. At 45mcg/daily, Natural Vitamin K2 provides levels shown to be effective not likely to interact negatively with blood-thinning drugs such as Warfarin.

Vitamin K2 is used in the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis and arterial calcification.

- Vitamin K2 Promotes the synthesis of proteins involved with calcium utilization
- Vitamin K2 is much more effective in helping inhibit bone loss
- Vitamin K2 consumption may help inhibit arterial calcification

Vitamin K2 successfully inhibited the occurrence of new bone fractures and maintained lumbar bone mineral density(LBMD; it also helps prevent osteoporosis

Vitamin K2 may reduce bone loss caused by estrogen deficiency in postmenopausal women. Vitamin K2 could be a potential supplementary treatment to improve the bone quality in elderly people.

Vitamin K2 has significant potential benefits on cardiovascular health. A study conducted by scientists in the Cardiovascular Research Institute and Vit K, Maastricht University, showed a reversal of induced arterial calcification in an animal model. It has been further approved by human researchers.
Although calcification of the arterial vessel wall commonly increases with age, Calcifications may increase the risk of cardiovascular disorders; for this reason it is important to prevent it.

Another reported benefit of natural Vitamin K2 is its positive effect of skin.

Vitamin K plays an important role in vascular and skin health by preventing Elastin degradation.

Natural vitamin K2 has been shown apoptosis and differentiation-inducing effects on leukemia cells and may be also a good supplement for people with Heatocellular carcinoma.
