Overview
Gingko biloba extract
Gingko biloba extract used in this product is standardized to Ginkgo flavone glycosides and Terpene lactones. The effects on Ginkgo on a variety of conditions have been extensively studied throughout the last decades where approximately 120 clinical studies have been published on standardized Ginkgo extract.
Many studies supported the use of Ginkgo in the treatment of dementia due to cardiovascular insufficiency, Alzheimer’s disease or multi-infarct dementia, to slow the clinical deterioration of patients with dementia or to improve cognitive functions.
Ginkgo extract contain several active constituents including flavonoids, terpenoids, and organic acids. Ginkgo leaf flavonoids have antioxidant and free radical scavenging properties. The flavonoids seem to prevent or reduce cell membrane lipid peroxidation and decrease oxidative damage to erythrocytes. Ginkgo’s flavonoids also protect neurons and retinal tissue from oxidative stress. Ginkgolides in the leaf competitively inhibit platelet activating factor (PAF) binding at the membrane receptors of numerous cells. Scientific research indicates its antioxidant rule and positive effect on memory and mental performance.
Ginkgo extract seems to improve blood flow to capillaries throughout the body including in the CNS, eyes, ears, extremities, and other tissues. Ginkgo leaf likely improves circulation by both decreasing blood viscosity and affecting vascular smooth muscle. Some Ginkgo constituents may also have a potent relaxing effect on vascular smooth muscle and improve blood flow.
Panax ginseng
Panax ginseng is used as “adaptogen” for increasing resistance to environmental stress and as a general tonic for improving well-being. Several studies suggest that ginseng may modestly improve some aspects of mental health and social functioning such as thinking or learning by developing psychomotor performance, and logical thinking in healthy individuals.
Ginseng has been studied alone or in combination with other herbs,
such as Ginkgo, for memory and dementia in elderly people.
The standardized Korean red ginseng extract used in this formula provides 20 times more Gingenosides than regular extracts.
Bacopa monnieri
Bacopa monnieri; a traditional Ayurvedic medicinal plant has been used for centuries as a memory-enhancing, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, sedative, and antiepileptic agent. More recently, preclinical studies have reported cognitive enhancing effects with various extracts of Bacopa. Two chemicals in bacopa, bacosides A and B, improve the transmission of impulses between nerve cells in brain.
A variety of preclinical and some clinical studies have been conducted in the last two decades to examine the effects of Bacopa monnieri extracts on memory and learning functions in both animals and humans. Some clinical studies conducted in early and late 80’s reported memory and learning enhancing effects of chronic Bacopa monnieri treatment in patients with anxiety neurosis. These positive findings were later confirmed by recent trials concluding that Bacopa monniera extract may improve early information processing, verbal learning and memory consolidation in humans.

L-Tyrosine
L-Tyrosine is an Amino acid used to help in the management of physical, psychological and multitasking stress. Studies show that supplementation with tyrosine may reduce blood pressure and may lessen the effects of stress and fatigue on cognitive performance.
Choline
Choline is crucial for sustaining life. It modulates the basic signaling processes within cells, is a structural element in membranes, and is vital during critical periods in brain development. Choline is a precursor of acetylcholine (ACh) and has proven effect on CNS and brain performance. Some researchers are interested in Choline for Alzheimer’s disease because it is a precursor to acetylcholine. Studies suggest that adequate Choline can have long-lasting positive effects on cognitive function, including memory.
Inositol
Inositol is a naturally occurring nutrient involved in phospholipids which function as cellular mediators of signal transduction, metabolic regulation, and growth. Inositol has shown positive effects in a number of studies related to depression, panic attacks and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It has been reported to help people with Alzheimer’s disease and some sort of memory impairment. Inositol is metabolized to phosphatidylinositol, which makes up a small, but very significant, component of cell membranes. It is observed that an Inositol isomer prevents deficits in memory caused by some oligomers that are associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
