This product is an effective sleep aid and a natural substitute for synthetic products used for sleep deprivation.

Melatonin
Melatonin is used to help increase the total sleep time (aspect of sleep quality) in people suffering from sleep restriction. It is also recommended to people who suffer from daytime fatigue associated with jet lag. Melatonin helps to re-set the body’s sleep-wake cycle.

Valerian
Valerian has been used as sleep aid for years. Clinical trials have verified that extracts of the Valerian root have a sleep-inducing effect. This action stems from the herb’s tendency to boost GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) level, one of the chemical messengers in the brain. Valerian also seems to relax muscles and dissipate spasms.

Passion flower
Passion flower is a perennial creeping vine, native to the tropical and semi-tropical southern United States. Passion flower is used in Germany as sedative and cardiotonic and in the British Herbal Compendium it is known as sedative, anxiolytic, and antispasmodic. The central nervous system sedative properties of Passion flower have been documented, supporting its traditional indications for use.

Skullcap
Preliminary evidence suggests that single doses of skullcap extract may facilitate a relaxation feeling which may last up to 2 hours. Skullcap extract contains flavonoids such as Baicalin and Wogonin and also contains lignins, resins, tannins, and volatile oils. It seems that the flavonoid constituents of skullcap may act as GABA agonists responsible for the sedating and anxiolytic effect.
Some components seem to bind the serotonin receptor 5-HT7. Skullcap’s effects on the serotonin receptor may be also involved in potential sedative properties.
