Overview
Zinc is the key factor in tissue formation and body metabolism in children.
Zinc is an essential element that plays catalytic or structural roles in the more than
200 enzymes mediated processes that have been identified in biological systems.
These enzymes are responsible in nucleic acid function, protein metabolism,
maintaining energy, and integrity of biological membranes.
The adult body contains about 1.5 to 2.5 grams of zinc.Zinc Fruit Fun™ is made of ingredients with different specifications than adult products. Our children products must pass more restricted quality measures to meet our brand value.
It is present in all organs, tissues, plasma and secretions.
About 90% of total body zinc is found in skeletal muscles and bones.

Zinc is vital for growth and physical development, vision function, insulin storage and release and for a variety of natural immune defenses, etc. Zinc deficiency can result in growth retardation, immune system dysfunction, increased incidence of infections, diarrhea, weight loss, anorexia, delayed wound healing, increased risk for alopecia, mental lethargy and skin conditions.
Severe zinc deficiency is rare in industrialized countries. However, it is highly prevalent in many developing countries.
Zinc promotes immunomodulatory and antioxidant activity. The antioxidant activity of Zinc is in association with the copper-binding protein and also linkage with Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD).
The potential effect of Zinc gluconate in the management of the common cold made it a valuable ingredient for variety of products in the market. The mechanisms could be inhibition of the replication of rhinoviruses inhibition of virus entry into cells.
Zinc deficiency has been shown to impair immune system in different ways.
Zinc supplementation may reduce the incidence of childhood pneumonia by 41% and incidence of diarrhea in children by 25%.
According to Health Canada compendium of monographs, recommended dose for Zinc supplementation is up to 7 mg/day in 1-3 year old children, up to 12 mg/day for 4-8 years and up to 23 mg/day for 9-13 years.
